James R. Andrews, M.D.Chairman
Dr. Andrews co-founded the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI), a non-profit institute dedicated to injury prevention, education and research in orthopaedic and sports medicine, and serves as its Chairman of the Board and Medical Director. He was a founding member of Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama, as well as a founding partner and Medical Director of the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Florida. He is President and Chairman of the Board of the Andrews Research and Education Foundation, also dedicated to prevention, education and research at the Andrews Institute. He has mentored more than 314 orthopaedic/sports medicine Fellows and more than 84 primary care sports medicine Fellows who have trained under him through these Sports Medicine Fellowship Programs.
In the professional sports arena, Dr. Andrews is Senior Consultant for the Washington Redskins Professional Football Team and Orthopaedic Medical Director for the Tampa Bay Rays Professional Baseball Team. He is also the Medical Director of the Ladies Professional Golf Association, as well as on the Medical and Safety Advisory Committee of USA Baseball and the Board of Little League Baseball, Inc. Dr. Andrews serves as Medical Director and Orthopaedic Surgeon for Auburn University Intercollegiate Athletics and Senior Orthopaedic Consultant at the University of Alabama. He is recognized throughout the world for his scientific and clinical research contributions in knee, shoulder and elbow injuries, as well as his skill as an orthopaedic surgeon.
J. Melvin Deese, Jr., M.D.Medical Director
Dr. Deese serves as the Medical Director of Impact Cryotherapy, and is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and foot and ankle specialist. He has worked and trained with some of the most notable sports medicine specialists in the world and has cared for patients and treat sports injuries from the professional and collegiate ranks to high school and recreational athletes. His ground-breaking research on calcaneocuboid ligament sprain has drawn national and international attention.
Throughout his career as an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Deese has been committed to seeking new and innovative means to improve the health and lifestyles of patients and athletes at large. That interest in improving performance and enhancing lives drew him to Impact Cryotherapy. Now, blending his vast knowledge of biometrics and our natural recuperative abilities, he serves as a crucial checkpoint for ongoing product development.
Dr. Deese is also the founder of Summit Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery and has extensive experience in treating sports injuries and rehabilitations.
Troy C. Van Biezen, D.C., A.R.T
Dr. Van Biezen is the founder of ChiroSport Specialists of Dallas, Texas. Dr. Van Biezen’s extensive knowledge, combined with his experience as a professional athlete, provides his patients with the most comprehensive and integrative approach to evaluating, treating and rehabilitating from injuries and improvements in sports performance. Athletes throughout North America have sought Dr. Van Biezen’s expertise to help them recover from injury and improve their performance. He treats active individuals as well as professional athletes including athletes from the NFL, AFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, PGA and Web.com Tour. He also treats national and Olympic-ranked gymnasts and track and field athletes.
Dr. Van Biezen serves as chiropractor for the PGA tour, Dallas Desperados Professional Arena Football Team, Dallas Stars Triple AAA Midget Hockey Team and national champion Texas Tornadoes Junior Hockey Team. He is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Performance Enhancement Specialist.
Nationally recognized spa and resort expert Ella Kent currently serves as the Director of Spa, Fitness and Racquet Sports at Sea Island Resort. Stimpson oversees all aspects of the iconic Georgia resort’s prestigious 65,000 square-foot spa, which has received the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star award for six consecutive years and was recently named the #4 Spa in the Continental U.S. in Travel + Leisure Readers’ Choice Awards.
Kent was previously Executive Director of Spa Operations for Wynn and Encore Las Vegas, the first casino spa to be awarded a Forbes Five-Star rating. Stimpson has also had the honor of serving as Chairman of the International Spa Association (ISPA) from 2011 to 2013, where she continues to serve on the Board of Directors. Stimpson began her career at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, which earned a Five-Star rating under her leadership.
